Rookery South Operational Model
15th August 2021
DWPF provided financial modelling support to Covanta, a waste management company, in developing an operational model for the Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility (ERF).
Covanta, in partnership with the Green Investment Group and Veolia, has developed the Rookery South ERF at Rookery South Pit, a former brick clay extraction pit, near Stewartby in Bedfordshire.
The ERF is a sustainable alternative to landfill, using household, commercial and non-hazardous industrial residual waste, left after recycling and composting efforts, as fuel to generate clean electricity. The facility, which is now in its construction phase, will provide a vital outlet for the sustainable disposal of over 545,000 tonnes of residual waste per year and will generate over 60 megawatts of low carbon energy – enough electricity to meet the needs of over 112,500 homes.
The primary objective of the bespoke operational financial model is to facilitate the presentation of historic and forecast results for Rookery South Limited, calculate valuations, and produce accurate debt covenants for reporting purposes.
